lyrics
I just want to make 1 piece of art so damn good you can't ignore it.
I just want a 2 bed, one bath bungalow with hardwood flooring.
I just want a 3-act life with a curtain call to a standing O,
And a chance to 4-give all my enemies before I go.
I just want 5 thousand dollars
And 60 people to come out to my show
And keep their voices low.
Keep your voices low.
Shut your mouth when you're at my show.
Keep your voices low.
I just want a simple life where we won't worry how we'll pay the rent.
I just want to stick it to the man, but save for retirement.
I just want our love to burn this brightly still when we get old.
I just want more records as good as "Car Wheels On A Gravel Road".
I just want ten thousand dollars for my next record,
A wedding ring, and a honeymoon in Rome...
And Rosetta Stone.
Rosetta Stone.
Let's learn Italian and go to Rome.
Rosetta Stone.
Maybe the best thing David ever did, which makes me extremely sad. A Jews record in all but name, but more direct in its lyricism without losing that indescribable feeling, that beauty and sorrow and lighthearted sarcasm all rolled into one profound set of lyrics that are David Berman. Not to mention the band playing on the record is probably the best Berman ever recorded with. Rest in Peace DCB. jack_thorn16
